Compliance Labeling
Most OEM’s (original equipment manufacturers) have implemented or will soon
implement product labeling and coding systems referred to as “compliance
labeling”. This system allows them to simplify their receiving process by
using barcode readers to input source, part
number, supply date, and specification information from incoming shipments.
That information is automatically updated in their inventory database providing
real time tracking of stock and enhancing their ability to use “just in time”
inventory methods. It also eliminates errors and improves payment cycle
times for suppliers using this process
Many of these companies use compliance labeling on their own finished goods as a
means to streamline and to control their distribution process or for “private
labeling of product”.
The requirements for compliance labeling usually requires a great deal of
technical knowledge and engineering resources to implement. These systems
are in fact turnkey systems having a unique customer
design.
